My working life
Making better websites. Making websites better.
The 30 second summary
In my teenage years I had a recording contract as the bass guitarist in a ska band and I built my first band website (of many) in 1998 at the age of 13. In 2004 I completed a BTEC Diploma in Art & Design at the University College for the Creative Arts in Farnham where I was awarded a distinction grade for both my design work and my critical writing.
I took my first full-time job as a marketing assistant in the publishing industry where I was responsible for the conception, design, production and distribution of the company's printed marketing collateral.
In the evenings (and weekends, and often at 5 in the morning!) I studied for a BSc (Hons) Computing degree with the Open University which formalised my knowledge of software development and included advanced level courses on the subject of human-computer interaction and software usability.
This combination of marketing, design and programming led perfectly into a career in web development - starting out as a freelancer and eventually settling into a permanent role in the Flipside Group as Web Development Manager. In this role I look after the web development team and I have been responsible for the production of more websites than you can shake a stick at.
In my free time I look after this website and my other favourite project www.bibliofaction.com
